(RE)DESIGN DEATH
Can we capture our spirit
into code?
For the design challenge (Re)Design Death by the Cube Design Museum I imagined a future, in which we can upload the character of our beloved ones into household objects to keep their memory alive.
Every interaction we have with a computer or a machine produces data about our behaviour and character. This data is used by companies to create personal profiles of us and the conclusions an algorithm can make about our character get more and more accurate with the amount of available data rising.
Now, instead of the machine being a neutral recipient of our input - can it learn about us and take on our personal character traits and behaviours? Can I be “reborn” as a toaster or a blender? Would my bereaved enjoy the company of machine that acts like me?
